“We tell ourselves stories in order to live.” ~Joan Didion
Storytelling is a necessity of life. This is a record of my stories–from the stories in my mind to the stories of my day.
Every story has to start somewhere. I’ve been postponing starting my own blog because I feel too much in the middle of living. Where does one begin? I suppose a birthday or the start of a new year would have been a more natural beginning. As it is, it’s simply the beginning of October, the changing of a season, and a day for beginning in the middle.
I am currently in the middle of…
- the outline for a novel.
- researching agents for another book project.
- attempting to read 100 books in a year.
- learning to cook.
- re-learning to sew.
- waiting for my acceptance to graduate school.
And so that’s how my story shall begin. Somewhere in the middle.

“It is easy to see the beginnings of things, but harder to see the ends.” Another favorite Joan quote of mine, somewhat related. Congrats on this beginning, here, that is a lovely one to see!
